Helena McCutcheon

(she/her)
Pre-licensed Counselor

My goal as a counselor is to collaborate with clients to explore the tools, strengths, and inner traits they already possess to build a more fulfilled and positive life. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, with over eight years of experience working in classroom settings. My background in education has shaped my counseling approach by strengthening my understanding of development, learning styles, and the importance of patience, structure, and connection. I bring this foundation into the therapy space to help clients feel supported, understood, and empowered.

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, attachment theory, mindfulness-based practices, and strengths-based interventions. I also incorporate psychoeducation and nervous system awareness to help clients better understand their emotional patterns and responses.

I am an Arizona native, a mother of two, and a counselor who believes deeply in meeting people exactly where they are in their lives. Outside of my work, I enjoy gardening, creating art, and spending time with my sassy, lovable dog, Zuzu. These creative and grounding practices influence how I view healing—as something that is personal, relational, and rooted in both self-compassion and growth. I am currently planning to work towards completing a doctorate in psychology, with a focus on transgenerational trauma and how we can rewire the brain, build resilience, and interrupt patterns passed down through generations. I am passionate about helping individuals heal not only for themselves, but also for future generations.

I am currently completing my Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling through the CACREP-accredited counseling program at Grand Canyon University. As a pre-licensed counselor, I am receiving direct clinical supervision from AZBBHE approved Taylor Oberhelman-McLeod, M.A., LPC, Virginia Kuhn, M.A., LPC and Diana Canfield, M.S., LPC.
