Complete Your Internship with Canfield Counseling
Canfield Counseling is always looking for responsible interns in counseling or MFT educational programs to join our team to complete their required supervised experience hours, with an opportunity to continue to complete their associate licensed hours with us thereafter. We understand that master’s level interns are often entering the field with little to no experience and have built an internship program that offers constant and multi-level oversight and support to best facilitate our interns’ comprehensive development of clinical, legal, and ethical competences, professional standards of practice, further support the development of their unique professional styles, and implement balance in their work, school, internship, and self-care responsibilities.
Throughout your internship experience with Canfield Counseling you are provided support, oversight, and education from the Clinical Director, Administrative Director, and Administrative Assistant.
Interns begin with a comprehensive onboarding experience that includes but is not limited to:
A minimum of weekly one-on-one attention and time with our Clinical Director
Observation of live sessions
Requirement to practice documentation with mock clients before seeing your first clients
Review of training material offering information about legal, ethical, and professional standards of practice and documentation, our policies and procedures, and clinical competencies
For the remainder of the internship experience, Canfield Counseling offers interns:
Weekly individual or triadic clinical supervision meetings with the Clinical Director
A minimum of weekly individual training meetings with our Clinical Director (additional meetings added as needed)
Weekly group intern meetings to provide further case conceptualization and support
A minimum of monthly recorded or live session reviews to provide consistent feedback of intern performance and development
Monthly continued education training
Quarterly Canfield Counseling events to celebrate our counselors’ successes and hard work that further encourages and role models the necessity of work/life balance.
Ability to schedule additional meetings, calls, observed sessions, and training with the Clinical Director for increased support and oversight as needed throughout your internship experience
To further support our interns, We Pay Our Interns. We sincerely believe your time and effort is valuable. Pay begins at an intern level rate of $20 per direct hour, with an opportunity of a higher level contract and rate for those interns presenting with continued advancement in their competencies and professionalism and interested in increasing their direct hours.
Interested in joining our team? Please contact us at contact@canfieldcounseling.org to request more information about our internship program or to begin our application process.
